Buying jewellery, whether as gifts, purchases or souvenirs, is always fun. However, if you've neglected to organize them right away, having all that jewelry could actually be quite stressful. To help you get the most out of your jewellery and take care of it along the way, we offer 5 effective and useful tips to help you de-clutter your jewellery box and put things back in order.
-
USE A VERY LARGE JEWELLERY BOX WITH SEVERAL COMPARTMENTS
If you haven't already done so, get the biggest jewelry box you can find. Even if you can only fill half of it, do it. Having to replace your jewelry box as your collection grows can be even more embarrassing. Play it safe and go for the big one right away. Your jewellery will appreciate the extra space and you'll be able to keep things tidy much more easily. Move away from boxes with only one large compartment or something similar. Everything will get confusing and mixed up, and that will go against good organization.
-
DIVIDE THE JEWELLERY BY TYPE
Each category of jewellery deserves its own section. This means that all your rings should be placed together, all your earrings, bracelets, etc., and all your bracelets should be placed together. Now, if you really have a lot of them, you can be even more efficient and organized by dividing your jewelry into subcategories. This can mean that all your white gold and platinum rings go together and all your yellow gold rings go together. Or, all your diamond and gemstone rings go in one section, and your singles go in another. It's up to you to put away anything that will make it easier to locate your pieces.
-
TIE YOUR EARRINGS TOGETHER
Most jewelry boxes have a padded section for earrings. They hold the hooks while displaying them beautifully. Hoops and earrings with a clasp are a little more complicated. These can be placed in a number of other places, but the important thing is to keep them together. This is best accomplished when you tie the earrings together. This way, they will never be separated, even if they move around a little in the box.

STORE DELICATE NECKLACES IN INDIVIDUAL BOXES OR SEPARATE PACKAGES
Although it is best to keep all your jewellery in a (safe) place, there are other things to consider as well. This of course includes delicate items such as chain necklaces, which have a knotting ability. That is why it is recommended to keep them in individual boxes or, better still, in their original jewellery box or packaging. Alternatively, you can place them on hooks, which you can find in certain types of jewelry boxes, in jewelry cabinets, or that you can buy individually and hang wherever you are.

KEEP YOUR JEWELLERY IN A DRY, COOL AND SAFE PLACE
A good jewelry box can help store and organize your jewelry, but it is up to you to store it in a dry, cool, clean place and make sure it is in a safe place in your home. This means keeping them out of sight and away from windows. Of course, everything has to be insured and you need to keep a close eye on when the policy ends or changes and you need to add or remove something.
When your jewellery is not being worn, it needs to be taken care of. This will prevent them from getting lost, tarnished, oxidized, dusty or crushed. Having everything in the same place makes it easier and faster to find what your jewellery is made of. Opening box after box only to close it and put it back is painful and time consuming. It's tempting to keep all those boxes, but for the most part, they are not necessary in the long run. If a specific piece of jewelry comes with certain care instructions that require it to remain in its box, it can be placed in the jewelry box while remaining in its original packaging. It should still be organized so that it can be easily found and not forgotten.
